  • Appointments are personalized to your needs, but on average you can expect a 30–45-minute visit.
  • Dr. Michelle Russ will cover the following topics below, in addition to having your baby weighed, attempt a breastfeeding session, and a post-feed weight to assess milk transfer. For pumping mothers, Dr. Russ will help guide you through a full pumping session. 
  • Latch and holds.
  • Signs of milk transfer
  • Tongue tie evaluation
  • Breast care 
  • Hand expression and/or Hands-on pumping
  • Pump Flange measurements and Flange inserts
  • Pump settings and Power-pumping
  • Supplementing with expressed breast milk, if needed
  • Paced bottle feeding technique. 
  • Expressed Milk storage.
  • Maternal diet recommendations to maintain milk supply
  • For a breastfeeding visit-- mother and baby, and 1 support person may attend.
  • For a pumping visit--mother, baby and 1 support person (both optional); pump and full set of accessories needed for a pump session in the office.
  • Any personal items that will make your feeding or pumping session more comfortable.
  • Any lactation products you would like guidance on using.
